Abstract: Aborda reflexíµes referentes ao papel da biblioteca na escola. Aponta a necessidade de existir um órgão nacional com o intuito de cuidar especificamente dessas bibliotecas. Destaca a importância das secretarias estaduais e municipais em desenvolver estruturas permanentes na implementação e manutenção de bibliotecas escolares. As atividades das bibliotecas escolares necessitam estarem centradas no processo pedagógico.

[English] Reflections about the importance of the library in the school. It points the necessity to exist a national agency with intention to take care of specifically of these libraries. It disicuss the importance of the state and municipal secretaries to develop permanent structures in the implementation and maintenance the school libraries. The activities on the school libraries need to be centered in the pedagogical process.
