Abstract: [Portuguese] O literário e o pedagógico estão imbricados na literatura infantil desde seus primórdios. A escola, ao priorizar o didático em detrimento do lúdico em textos para crianças, transforma a leitura em função pedagógica. Entretanto, arte e educação podem ser parceiras na fruição literária, se a escola fornecer í s crianças os estí­mulos adequados í  leitura.

[English] Literature and pedagogy have been intertwined in child literature from its beginning. schools, when emphasizing the didactic aspects of child literature to the detriment of pleasure, highlight the pedagogic function of reading. However, art and education can be partners in literature if schools motivate children to read.
