Abstract: Relata o mutirão realizado na biblioteca por meio da disciplina Bibliotecas Escolares como originador do projeto de extensão Organização da biblioteca da E.E.B. Dom Jaime de Barros Câmara. Destaca como objetivos do projeto o organizar e o otimizar a biblioteca em questão para que a mesma desempenhe cabalmente as funçíµes educativas, culturais e tæcnicas. Atuaram no projeto uma professora e uma acadêmica do Curso de Biblioteconomia da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Ativou-se a biblioteca existente, realizou-se o tratamento tæcnico do acervo, despertou-se o gosto pela leitura, estimulou-se a pesquisa, orientou-se as consultas bibliográficas, buscou-se parceria com os professores da Escola. Concluiu-se que o projeto logrou êxito em conscientizar a Direção da Escola da necessidade de contratação de um profissional bibliotecário para a efetiva realização das atividades da biblioteca escolar.

This work pointed out the reunion realized at the library in through of Library Schools class as the creator extendaction project Organization of The Dom Jaime de Barros Câmara Basic School Library. Emphasized the organize and the upswing the library in studie, being it more educative, cultural and technical. Acted in this project one teacher and one Library student of Santa Catarina Federal University. Made active the library; achieved a tecnic treatment of the heap, awaked up student’s reading pleasure and stimulated them for research; the students was oriented to bibliographical consultation, partnership with tehe teachers of the School was made too. The conclusion of this project showed excellent results about being aware School Pricipals of a hire librarian professional need to a real realization of library school activities.
