Abstract: ABSTRACT. Wittgenstein’s principle concern is to expand the notion of linguistic understanding (Dammann). Although we understand music in a similar way as we understand language, music is not a language because we still cannot communicate through music as we can through language. Wittgenstein emphasizes the role of performance in the understanding of music and introduces an “intransitive” concept of expression.
