Abstract: By recasting Kant's constructivism, Rawls aims at the normativity of practical reason in a contractarian context. The duty of justice requires us to support and comply with just institutions that apply to us. Raz holds that obligations are categorial reasons for actions that are protected by exclusionary reasons not to act on some of the competing reasons to the contrary.
