Abstract: Kant suggests that right only commands compliance when there is an empirical motivation, but he claims that right requires that all individuals who can enter into the civil condition ought to. Right would need to presuppose that there is a providential 'coincidence' between enlightened self-interest and the demands of right holds for all of its subjects.
