Abstract: Economics has traditionally been more or less behaviouristic in orientation, preferring to build a picture of the human subject out of actions displayed rather than on a reflective or introspective basis. Economics has tended to be egocentrically reductionistic, assuming that the preferences which human agents seek to satisfy are, on the whole, self-concerned or egoistic desires.
