Abstract: All components of musical experience are entirely different from those required for any other endeavor, listening connects us with the world in the most intimate way. Musical expression cannot be adequately explained as the disembodied perception of musical contour. Composers over the centuries have perpetually used the same emotive musical phrases in their music despite dramatic changes of various musical styles.
